SeongHwa Lee

Software Engineer
UJET

Hello, Y'all! I'm Seonghwa Lee (aka MartianLee)

I'm a software engineer currently at UJET, where I've been working for 2 years. I thrive in remote-first environments and have built strong habits around async communication and self-driven productivity.

I believe great software is built through collaboration and iteration. My goal is always to be the kind of engineer teammates can rely on — someone who ships and communicates clearly.

I think the role of an engineer is fundamentally shifting. It's no longer just about writing code — it's about deeply understanding what people actually need (the kind of thinking that used to belong to PMs), and making wise technical decisions that serve those needs. The engineer who can bridge that gap is the one who creates the most impact.

That's also why I'm focused on becoming a 10x engineer powered by AI — not by working harder, but by working smarter. I see AI as the most powerful lever available to engineers right now, and I'm actively building habits and workflows around it to multiply my own output and impact.

Experience Highlights

  • Agile & remote-first — Experienced in agile practices across distributed teams, with deep comfort working autonomously in fully remote settings.
  • 0 to 1 product builder — Co-founded an early-stage startup in the carbon-neutral sector. Took a product from zero to generating real revenue — handling everything from architecture decisions to customer-facing features.
  • AI adoption — Championing AI integration at UJET, with a focus on automating the engineering lifecycle: from triage and bug fixing to documentation. Actively proposing and piloting workflows that reduce toil and let engineers focus on what matters.

Tech Stack

I don't believe in having a fixed tech stack. Frontend, backend, system architecture, high availability design — I've worked across all of them, and I've come to see technology choices as context-dependent decisions, not identity.

In the AI era, the ability to rapidly absorb and apply new knowledge is itself the stack.

In practice: I started with Rails, spent time with Django, then settled into the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem — Angular, React Native, React, Next.js in production. Node.js on the backend, with infra experience alongside. I've also worked on distributed system design and high-availability architecture when the problem called for it.

This blog is built with Next.js and Tailwind CSS, deployed automatically via GitHub Actions. See the repository if you're curious.
